About This Spot

Stepping into C & Y, tucked away on a quiet stretch of 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, feels like slipping into a familiar neighborhood kitchen where the pace is unhurried and the focus is on honest, heartfelt cooking. The modest space, a little unassuming at first glance, hums with a steady rhythm of local voices and casual comfort, offering a grounded welcome that instantly puts you at ease.

The atmosphere reflects the spirit of the neighborhood itself — genuine, approachable, with a warmth that comes through more in the food than flashy décor. Here, the kitchen quietly showcases the kind of Chinese home cooking that nourishes not just the body, but the familiar cravings for something dependable on any given day. Whether you choose to dine in or opt for delivery, there’s an ease to the experience, grounded in simplicity and reliability.

What stands out at C & Y is the thoughtful balance in the menu — a wide-ranging selection that respects both tradition and contemporary tastes. You’ll find dishes that lean into comforting classics, with vegetables, tofu, and lean proteins treated with care, making healthy choices feel like a natural part of the meal. Spicy options gently awaken the palate without overwhelming it, while familiar flavors like sweet and sour or garlic sauce offer a quiet, nostalgic satisfaction. The presence of vegetarian alternatives ensures everyone can find a plate that feels well considered and personal.

Patrons returning time and again hint at an unspoken trust the kitchen earns — orders made with confidence and delivered promptly, dishes arriving at the right temperature, full of the subtle details that keep meals feeling fresh and crafted, even when on the go. It is a place where the small touches, like adding bok choy to a warm bowl of wonton soup, reveal a thoughtful rhythm behind the scenes.

In many neighborhoods, it’s easy for places like C & Y to get lost in the noise; here, it quietly anchors a corner of Brooklyn with consistent quality and a genuine, unpretentious joy in sharing food. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you how satisfying a meal can be when it’s made with care and meant to be shared — whether you’re sitting down for a quick bite or picking up something comforting to enjoy at home.

I don’t understand how this place has so many negative reviews. The food was delicious, the place is not fancy, it’s small, but it is very affordable, and it was clean. I was so happy that they had all a vegetarian section with mock chicken and beef, my husband had pork, and he said it was good. I wish I have this place close to where I live.

Fire, I’ve been coming here for years and they never let me down. They’ve never gotten my order wrong, everything has always been perfect. Best Chinese food in park slope in my opinion!!

Wow big Mike is throughly impressed with the wonton soup. Bok choy in the wonton soup? It didnt need to be done but it was.

Just got food to go for the first time from this place. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious their food is. I ordered chicken chow mein, chicken with broccoli, and chicken friend rice.

My favorite Chinese takeout. General Tso’s chicken, broccoli with garlic sauce, spare rib tips. So good. The online menu is limited so you can call them to make modifications.

Phenomenal quality for the price. Pictured plus the wonton soup not in the photo costed all of $34. The pork buns are great and so is the soup. This has become my go to as there is not many places open on Sundays
